Interaction with Mr Aman Ali – March 3, 2017

The Asian College of Journalism hosted an interactive session with former USA Today Reporter and New York based stand-up comedian Mr Aman Ali, on March 3, 2017 on the role of a journalist as an effective storyteller.

Cultural Affairs Officer of the U.S. Consulate General, Chennai, Eric Lund introduced the speaker as one who creatively infuses humour into storytelling. Mr Ali said that “if you cannot tell a compelling story, you cannot be a journalist”. He says that every individual has incredible stories to tell and we just need to listen to them. He provided tips to students on how to be a creative and socially responsible storyteller-cum-journalist. He feels that the journalist has to go deeper beyond the headlines and sound bytes, ask the unasked questions and tell quality stories.
